On August 19, 2009, the Office of Civil Rights within the Department of Health and Human Services released an Interim Final Rule concerning breach notification requirements imposed on HIPAA covered entities and business associates as part of the “HITECH Act” contained within the Stimulus Bill (74 Fed. Reg. 42740, Aug. 24, 2009). [Continued]
A statewide collaborative led by MSV and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA), and created at the behest of Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources Marilyn Tavenner, has been selected as a finalist for federal funds to help primary care providers implement electronic health records (EHR) in their practices.
