Strategic Plan maps out growth, strengthening of VMGMA

The Virginia Medical Group Management Association Board held a retreat Feb. 29 to focus on its 2008 Strategic Plan. The board remains committed to providing the same networking and educational opportunities, but we want to focus in 2008 on our actions and decision making in four key areas.

VMGMA's Web site, at www.vmgma.org, will soon be enhanced and revamped.

First, the VMGMA wants to establish the VMGMA Web site as its strongest communication tool. It is time for us to enhance the look and functionality of the Web site, and we have engaged BE Communications to assist with this project. In the months to come, we will be keeping you up to date on our progress.

Please e-mail Jody O’Neil if there are specific features you would like to see us build into the site. The board has a lot of enthusiasm and ideas for this project, but we always welcome input from the membership.

A second focus for the board in 2008 is enhancement and definition of the VMGMA membership program. We want members to see and feel the value of their membership dollars. We plan to organize and document the benefits of membership in an effort to maintain and grow the organization.

Thirdly, our vendors are key to the success of our organization. This year, we want to redefine the sponsorship program for vendors and expand the opportunities for vendors to reach our membership. The VMGMA Board takes great pride in the strong partnership between our vendors and members.

Lastly, the VMGMA Board wants to place a special emphasis on the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE). This educational and career-enhancement certification goes hand-in-hand with the mission of VMGMA, and the board feels a responsibility to promote and support ACMPE. We plan to actively educate members on the benefits of ACMPE certification and fellowship, and we will incorporate its body of knowledge into the planning of our educational conferences.

So in 2008, you will be hearing much about our new Web site, membership benefits, vendor programs and ACMPE. By making these areas of focus prominent in our decision making, the VMGMA board believes we will continue to strengthen and grow this organization.
